Masum: Iraq needs American trainers and experts after withdrawal

Head of Kurdistan Alliance Bloc in Iraqi Parliament and Member of PUK Political Bureau Dr. Fuad Masum , stressed in a press statement, the need to keep a number of American trainers and experts to protect Iraq airspace and territories after the US troops withdrawal at the end of this year.
Dr. Masum emphasized that the Iraqi forces will not be fully prepared before 2020 , denying that the Kurdish leadership asked to keep foreign troops in Kurdistan Region.
He added that there is a need for US trainers to train Iraqi forces on sophisticated weapons and equipment purchased by the army, and also needs security experts to help in the fight against terrorism and running internal Security.
Dr. Fuad Masum, clarified that most of the parliamentary blocs agreed on the subject of trainers and authorized the Prime Minister to negotiate with the U.S. side, and the dispute is now on the subject of legal immunity for these trainers which can be resolved through direct negotiations.
