Member of the Parliamentary Energy Committee, Ghalib Muhammad, directed, on Tuesday (August 18, 2020), foreign companies to invest in Iraq, stressing that the security situation is stable and conducive to investment.
Mohammed told (Baghdad Today), "The security situation in Iraq during the current period is good, and we invite foreign companies of all kinds if they are serious to invest in Iraq."
He added, "Our experience with the Americans in terms of investments since 2003 until now is just promises. There is no implementation on the ground, in addition to talking about a role for Iranian companies in the issue of oil and gas is inaccurate because it is not significant."
And at the beginning of this year, foreign companies operating in the oil fields evacuated their employees through Basra International Airport, fearing the repercussions of the conditions that Iraq is going through, including the assassination of the Vice President of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, and the spread of the Corona epidemic.
Giant foreign oil companies are investing in the oil field in Basra, including the American company Exxon Mobil.
