Manufacturing industries and development needs

One of the economic problems most deserving of treatment is the manufacturing industries, for their influential role in economic development, and in their ability to face many of the challenges posed by that Iraqi reality.
The importance of the manufacturing industry lies in supporting the domestic product, in enhancing the effectiveness of the market by expanding the production of operational capacities, in feeding the consumption needs of commodities, in addition to its role in stimulating the economic cycle by increasing exports and reducing imports, and in absorbing unemployment, which is a structural threat to the economic environment.
The manufacturing industry is almost absent, and if any, it is weak in economic performance in competition, especially in the absence of protectionist measures in support of the Iraqi industry, which created a large gap in stimulating it, and in activating its effectiveness to meet the needs of the market and the citizen.
The search for a real solution to the problems of the manufacturing industry requires a clear economic vision that foresees the future, and the nature of the needs that can enhance the local market at all levels, just as it requires the existence of operational programs, legislative frameworks and laws in effect that support them, at the logistical and competitive level with imported goods, or at the level Supporting workers in its multiple sectors.
The economic environment in Iraq is not far from the history of manufacturing industries, as it has an effective infrastructure, and a well-known identity in the local and regional markets, as well as the presence of a middle class that has a great role in managing many economic activities and in various fields, such as food, leather, clothing, mechanical and petrochemical industries. I think that our need today presupposes the existence of the necessary decisions supporting the manufacturing industries, especially in light of the government's orientations, its reform program, according to real and permanent work plans, and in a manner that contributes to highlighting its role in developmental benefits and in its legal protection, in order to have the competitiveness, and to have its presence In the market, effective and close to consumer needs, as well as its role in addressing the problems of large unemployment and absorbing the wide number of skills and experiences in the industrial, agricultural and technical sectors, especially from graduates of Iraqi governmental and private universities looking for job opportunities, which public sector institutions are no longer able to absorb.
