Economy News - Baghdad

The assistant director of the Central Oil Company, Kaddouri Abdel Salim, announced that the power stations depend on gas by 70%.

Abdul Salim said, "The biggest challenge facing Iraq today is that most electrical stations may reach 70% depend on gas, and therefore the failure to invest this national wealth means continuing to import gas to sustain the work of electric power plants, and this drains huge funds from the state budget in Our country is in dire need of optimal investment of all natural resources."

He added that if the gas wealth is optimally invested, it will equal or exceed the revenues of oil exports, noting that

the Central Oil Company has contracted with a Chinese company to develop the Mansourieh gas field, which has a production capacity of 300 million standard cubic feet.
And he indicated that "Iraq will soon join the list of large countries after it invests its gas wealth in an optimal manner."
