The Minister of Agriculture directs to allow the private sector to import fixed and pivotal irrigation systems

Today, Sunday, the Minister of Agriculture, Muhammad Karim Al-Khafaji, directed that private sector companies be allowed to import fixed and pivotal irrigation systems.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Hamid Al-Nayef, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Minister Muhammad Karim Al-Khafaji directed to allow all private sector companies to import new and used fixed and pivotal irrigation systems from all global origins," noting that
"this came in order to provide irrigation systems. In the local markets, as well as moderate prices for farmers as a result of their provision by the private sector, which will help farmers to acquire them, especially in desert areas, depending on wells in cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources.
He added that "irrigation systems of various capacities will have a major role in increasing the cultivated areas and achieving food security, as well as rationalizing water consumption."
