Baghdad today - Baghdad
The economic expert, Nasser Al-Kinani, suggested today, Sunday, seizing Kurdistan's oil revenues, which are in international banks, to stop the illegal oil export process carried out by the region.
Al-Kinani said in a statement to (Baghdad Today), that "there is difficulty in seizing the funds of Kurdistan's oil revenues, which are in international banks, because these funds are not in the name of the Kurdistan government, but rather in the names of people within the ruling families in the region."
He added, "The region has a contract with Turkey regarding the issue of oil exports, and the Iraqi government is aware of this matter, but if it is able to terminate the contract, it is likely that this matter will result in the payment of money to the Turkish side."
Al-Kinani added, "The Iraqi government can resolve this matter amicably with the region, especially after the Federal Court issued a decision to cancel the oil and gas law in Kurdistan."
