Finance holds an expanded meeting on banks

Today, Sunday, the Ministry of Finance held an expanded meeting on banks.
And the Finance Media said in a statement received (Baghdad Today) that
"the Agency's Minister of Finance, Hiyam Nemat Mahmoud, chaired at the ministry's headquarters an expanded meeting that included the general managers of Iraqi government banks, regarding the
mechanics of the banks' work and the obstacles they face. The Minister of Finance added, according to the statement, that
"the banking sector witnessed a set of challenges, variables and exceptional circumstances, the most important of which was the Corona pandemic, which cast a shadow over the whole world and the accompanying economic downturn, especially in the oil-exporting countries, adding that
"despite that, the government banking sector was able to commit to providing requirements Supporting the national economy and avoiding the negative effects of economic repercussions and international conflicts.
The minister stressed "the importance of
strengthening joint cooperation between banking institutions, and
understanding a common strategy, to
improve and develop the Iraqi banking sector, and
enhance its role in the local and international banking arena."
The minister also pointed to
"the need to strengthen the role of Iraqi banks through the
development of executive mechanisms and
comprehensive action plans,
which serve the strategic objectives of the banking sector,
which are centered on the direction of stability and balance of the local economy."
