Financial and economic experts believe that the challenges facing the Iraqi economy are great and require intensified efforts by the government by diversifying and maximizing the state’s “non-oil” revenues from taxes, outlets, etc., in addition to operating factories, reducing unemployment, and creating added value from sectors outside the oil sector.
Financial and economic expert, Dr. Mahmoud Dagher, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”:
“One of the most important challenges facing the Iraqi economy for the year 2024 and beyond is how to diversify the economy after all these years of the (unilateral) state of the economy.
Therefore, the biggest challenge is How to create added value from sectors outside the oil sector. He added,
"The second challenge that has not left us is how to stabilize the Iraqi currency.
Yes, there are efforts being made, but it is still too early to say that there is stability in the currency.
The third challenge lies in the possibility of reducing the number of workers in the public sector and creating job opportunities for the private sector."
