The Central Bank of Iraq announced an increase in the volume of loans and advances granted by banks operating in Iraq.
The Central Bank of Iraq confirmed that the volume of loans and advances granted by banks operating in Iraq amounted to (60.8) trillion dinars, at a rate of (17%) in 2023, after it was (51.9) trillion dinars, at a rate of (12%). ) in 2022, while the loans and advances granted in 2021 amounted to (46.1) trillion dinars, at a rate of (7%).
The Central Bank of Iraq noted the importance of loans and advances, which are important factors in stimulating the local economy.

The Central Bank of Iraq announced the percentage of cash credit to the total deposits of the Iraqi banking sector, which amounted to (52%) during 2023,
confirming its increase compared to the year 2022, which recorded (47%), while in 2021 it was around (55%).
The Central Bank of Iraq said that although the increase was recorded, it did not exceed the standard percentage specified by this bank, amounting to (75%), indicating that
this percentage aims to maintain sufficient liquidity in banks to face customer withdrawals and conduct financial banking activities.

The Department of Statistics and Research at the Central Bank of Iraq revealed a decrease in the ratio of non-performing loans to total credit.
The Department of Statistics and Research said that the ratio of non-performing loans to total cash credit witnessed a decline, reaching (6.3%) during the year 2023, compared to (7.2%) in 2022, while in 2021 it recorded (8.8%) and in 2020. It reached (8.9%), and the department added that the
percentage of non-performing loans to total deposits for the year 2023 recorded a rate of (3.2%) compared to the last three years, as it was recorded in 2022 (3.4%), while in 2021 it reached (4.9%) while It was (5.2%) in 2020.
The Central Bank of Iraq confirms that this percentage is an indicator of the efficiency of the Iraqi banking sector in its endeavor to develop its products and adopt new methods and advanced systems for granting credit and reducing the risks of default in accordance with the contexts followed globally.
