As part of efforts to combat corruption and enhance transparency in governance, the former Minister of Finance, Ali Abdul Amir Allawi, revealed in an exclusive interview with Al Sharqiya TV, shocking information about the existence of a corruption network extending within the corridors of power.

Allawi confirmed that there are at least 30 politicians in Iraq who have wealth exceeding one billion dollars.

In order to hold accountable those responsible for these wealth, whose authenticity and sources are suspected, the Integrity Commission in Iraq extended an invitation to the former Minister of Finance to testify and provide information that supports these allegations.

The Authority aims to uncover sources of illicit wealth and implement justice in accordance with local laws.

In a related context, Allawi pointed out that the private sector in Iraq needs political cover to operate, which highlights the overlap between the public and private sectors and opens the door to opportunities for corruption and manipulation of national resources.

These statements come in the context of ongoing efforts to confront corruption and enhance transparency in government performance in Iraq, in light of the economic and social challenges facing the country and the urgent need to achieve sustainable development and direct investments effectively for the benefit of the Iraqi people.
