Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed today, Wednesday (April 17, 2024), that 80% of dollar transactions in Iraq occur outside the electronic platform.

Al-Sudani said during his participation in the activities of the 2024 Spring Meetings, that

“Iraq has begun projects to invest in associated gas, and

these projects will achieve self-sufficiency for Iraq in the field of electricity in 3-5 years,” noting that

“Iraq burns a value of 4 to 5 billion dollars per day of gas associated with oil.”. The Prime Minister pointed out that

“the national average cost of producing a barrel of Iraqi oil is $8, while it is $26 in Iraqi Kurdistan,” adding,

“This is the reason for the dispute with companies in Kurdistan.” He stressed that

"80% of dollar transactions in Iraq occur outside the electronic platform. "
