The Central Bank hosts a group of graduate students

Within the framework of cooperation between the Central Bank of Iraq and Iraqi universities, the Department of Statistics and Research at the Central Bank of Iraq hosted a group of professors and master’s students in the Department of Banking and Financial Sciences at the College of Administration and Economics at Al-Mustansiriya University.
Dr. Samir Fakhri Nimah, Director General of the Department of Statistics and Research, gave a lecture that addressed the developments of the most important economic indicators in the Iraqi economy for the period 2018 until 2024.
The role of the Central Bank of Iraq in achieving financial and monetary stability was discussed, as well as the relationship between fiscal policy and monetary policy and the importance of coordination between them in facing economic challenges, especially financial shocks resulting from international crises and oil price changes, as it represents the main source of financial revenues for the state.
The Director General also explained the efforts made by the Central Bank to reduce the exchange rate gap, as well as working to achieve financial inclusion and the effective use of non-traditional tools in order to reach the goals of monetary policy.
At the end of the lecture, the floor was opened for discussion, where the questions posed by the students were answered, which focused on the financial and banking sector and the supervisory role of the Central Bank and its steps in reforming this sector.
A number of scientific reports and publications issued by the Central Bank of Iraq were also distributed to the students to benefit from them in Writing scientific research.
At the end of the meeting, the guest professors praised the importance of the information the students received during this visit and the fruitful cooperation and support provided by the Central Bank of Iraq to researchers and scientific institutions.
