Chairman: EgyptAir to resume flights to Iraq

CAIRO (AP) A top EgyptAir official says the airline will resume flights to Iraq next month after a 21-year break.
Hussein Massoud, chairman of the EgyptAir holding company, aid Sunday that starting July 15, there will be seven weekly flights to Iraq four to Baghdad and three to Irbil in Kurdistan.
Flights will go to Baghdad on Saturdays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and to Irbil on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The flights return to Cairo on the same days.
EgyptAir suspended flights to Iraq in 1990 before the first Gulf War.
Fighting on Iraq led to steep hikes in insurance rates, leading to cancellation of the EgyptAir service.
Austrian Airlines, Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways, Bahrain's Gulf Air and Turkish Airlines, have also resumed flights to Iraq.
