Basra Investment Commission to approve the draft Iron & Steel "Steel Basra" investment

The Basra Investment Commission has agreed in principle to establish a project for an industrial iron and steel in the province of Basra, at a cost of $ 150 million. The project, submitted by the company, "Steel Arbil," the contribution of the Turkish establishment of a laboratory for iron and steel in the Basra area of land estimated to be 300 acres near one of the ports of Basra. Khalaf al-Badran, said chairman of BIC "The Basra Investment Commission expresses its full support for the project and will be covered by overcoming all the obstacles as is in line with their aspirations for the development of the industrial sector." He explained "that the Commission is seeking, through this project is to create new job opportunities contribute to reducing the phenomenon of widespread unemployment in the province, along with local market need plants for iron and steel as well as reduce the import of iron." He explained that "the Commission has formed engineering team and technicians to determine the coordinates and dimensions of land for the project in the field, and push for completion of project designs the final feasibility and financing plan for consideration by the technical authorities competent for the purpose of the project was awarded investment license after completion of the requirements of sectoral government departments concerned." For his part, director of "Steel Arbil" in Iraq, that Basra Sirwan Cakl a station following company where we intend to establish our project is marked as "Basra Steel" on the lines of the draft "Erbil Steel" in the Kurdistan region. "The project will employ more than 800 local workers as well as technical staff and foreign experts, and through which we seek to fill the need of the local market and then export to other countries." "We, through this project we will provide to Basra extensive experience beyond which the most important errors that we encountered in our previous projects in Turkey and the Kurdistan region, where we hope to have an integrated optical form in terms of new technologies." He pointed out that "the project will be implemented in the form of stages where expansion will be according to demand and market need, especially that it is estimated that the plant's production to 250 thousand tons per year and will double this percentage gradually."
