Iraqi Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani
Erbil, December 26 (PNA) - The head of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, Massoud Barzani, the Kurdish problem will present the disputed areas to Kurdistan parliament to decide on a referendum to the views of residents of the region around it, and will adhere to the Kurdish leadership to the decision of the people.
Barzani said in an interview with the department Persian Voice of America that the problem of the disputed areas, "a solution in the Constitution, and we were the last moment we will seek to resolve, as provided for in the Constitution, but without compromising them," adding, "If not resolved in accordance with the Constitution, then we will go the problem to Kurdistan Parliament, to hold a referendum to the opinion of the Kurdish people, and we will stick to a decision of our people. "
The Chairman of the region that "there is great negligence on the part of Baghdad to address the problem," stressing that "the statute of limitations would not address the problem of time, and best of all in Iraq to solve the problem as soon as possible."
The Barzani said the Kurds would not impose their opinion on the subject, noting that "no one has the right to impose a solution set to the people of Kirkuk, the population of Kirkuk, they will decide on the type of solution, and if they decide to join the Kurdistan region it is very good, and if they decide not to to join the Kurdistan region it their decision. "
It is noteworthy that Article 140 of the Constitution provides for the normalization of the situation in the disputed areas in the regions Kninoy, Diyala, and set period of time for a solution ended in (31 December 2007), also left for the people of those areas, freedom of self-determination of both survival and independent administrative unit or attached to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq through a referendum, but several obstacles have delayed the implementation of some basic items of the material.
