BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Parliament Speaker Usama Nujaifi will discuss with President Jalal Talabani and Kurdistan President Masoud Barzani possibility of withdrawing confidence from Premier Maliki and conduct early elections, Parliament spokesman said here today.
Kamal Obaidi told Aswat al-Iraq that a 5-member Iraqiyah bloc committee was formed will discuss in Sulaimaniya the multi-sided political crisis, starting from vice-president Tariq al-Hashimi case and ending to withdraw confidence from premier Maliki and conducting early elections.
He added that "the Kurdish alliance shall be the balance center for any decision to be taken, because both Iraqiya bloc and National Alliance cannot implement any decision by their own, so the participation of the Kurdish alliance is important".
Speaker Nujaifi arrived today to Sulaimaniya, as reported by presidential statement.
Obaidi added that "the choices are available, either dissolving the parliament, re-election or changing premier Maliki by his National Alliance".
Iraqi political arena is witnessing political and security tensions, due to the demand of the provinces to be changed to regions, including Salahuddin, Diala and Anbar provinces in protest for governmental negligence.
Added to all these demands, the arrest warrant issued against vice-premier Tariq al-Hashimi which came at a time of political conflicts between the two major blocs, the State of Law and Iraqiya bloc.
Iraqiya bloc leader Iyad Alawi suspended the participation of the bloc in the parliament in protest to "unilateral rule of premier Nouri al-Maliki".
