Aswat al-Iraq: was launched today, Tuesday, in Erbil, the work of the National Conference of decentralization and internal governance, and organized by (UNDP) of the United Nations in cooperation with the Ministry of Planning in the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, with the participation of Prime Minister Barham Saleh.
A statement of the Government of the region from Barham Saleh, in a speech during the opening ceremony, saying that "a system of decentralization is an important issue for the new Iraq and the Kurdistan region, and the Iraqi constitution, spoke clearly about federalism and democracy on the basis of a system of decentralization and the distribution of powers."
The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government said that "a culture of decentralization and distribution of authorities did not take root among officials in this country also requires, so we must work together to deepen this culture."
In another aspect of his speech, Saleh pointed out, according to the statement, the risks faced by the political and administrative system through a central, "The world is today moving towards decentralization and the distribution of powers and to provide a suitable platform to the participation of citizens in the administration."
The statement said that Saleh spoke about the relations between the KRG and the federal government, saying, "Although there are some outstanding problems between us, but this did not affect the relations and we step down to solve these problems within the framework of the Iraqi Constitution," noting "the importance of conducting the census in Iraq , "hoping" to remove all obstacles to conducting this process.
