Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki appointed acting ministers replacing Iraqiya List ministers who are no longer participating in cabinet sessions, an informed governmental source revealed on Wednesday. Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs Hussein Al Shahristani will act as new Electricity Minister while Planning Minister Ali Shukri will act as Minister of Finance, the source announced.

“Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki appointed his deputy Hussein Al Shahristani in addition to other ministers as acting ministers replacing Iraqiya List ministers who are no longer participating in cabinet sessions,” the source told Alsumarianews explaining that Shahristani was appointed as Acting Minister of Electricity instead of Karim Aftan, a source told Alsumaria.
“Maliki appointed Higher Education Minister Ali Al Adib as Acting Minister of Education instead of Mohamed Tamim, Trade Minister Hassan Kheirallah Babker as Acting Minister of Industry and Minerals, Planning Minister Ali Shukri as Acting Minister of Finance instead of Rafea Al Issawi and State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Safaddin Al Safi as Acting State Minister for Provincial Affairs,” the source added on condition of anonymity.

Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki’s decision coincided 15 days after Iraqiya List boycotted cabinet sessions, in December 19, and 17 days after it boycotted parliamentary sessions in protest against the so-called political marginalization.
Ministries of Finance, Electricity, Industry and Minerals, Science and Technology, Agriculture, Education, Communications in addition to State Ministry for Provincial affairs and Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs are the 8 seats handled by Iraqiya List in current government.
