ARBIL / Aswat al-Iraq: The President of North Iraq's Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani, has conferred in Arbil city on Sunday with the Chairman of al-Iraqiya Alliance, Iyad Allawi, and his accompanying delegation, on proposals to settle the current political crisis in the country, a Kurdistan Presidency source reported.
"The Leader of al-Iraqiya Alliance,Iyad Allawi, had arrived in Arbil late Saturday night, leading a delegation from his Alliance, comprising Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh al-Mutlaq," the source stressed, adding that "the delegation had conferred with Kurdistan President, Massoud Barzani, with whom they discussed the current crisis on the Iraqi arena."
The Iraqi arena is witnessing a severe political and security tension, due to the demands by some Provinces to announce themselves as
administratively and economically independent "Regions," within the Iraqi Federation, among them Salahal-Din, Diyala and Anbar, in protest
to what they say "marginalization, eradication and detentions in those provinces, along with the issuance of an arrest warrant against Iraq's
Vice-President, Tariq al-Hahimy, an al-Iraqiya Alliance leader.
