ARBIL / Aswat al-Iraq: The regional planning conference for human rights was opened today in Iraqi Kurdistan during a ceremony attended by UN representative to Iraq Martin Kobler, head of Kurdish Presidency Divan representing the Kurdish President Masoud Barzani, and a number of ministers and foreign consulates there, according to a statement issued here today.
In the opening speech, the head of foreign relations department at the Kurdish region government Falah Mustapha, said "the convening of this conference is a qualitative move in the field of human rights in the region and a step to build a democratic society".
The conference was prepared by Kurdistan government of human rights, sovereignty of law, freedoms and women and children rights, he pointed out.
The regional planning conference will put a strategy for Iraq and the region in human rights till 2014.
