Iraq's Deputy PM confers with UN Sec-General's Rep. in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq's Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh al-Mutlaq,
has conferred in
Baghdad on Thursday with the UN Sec-General's Representative in Iraq,
Martin Cobler, on
the current developments on the Iraqi political arena and to bring
viewpoints closer among
political blocs to overcome the current crisis.
"Mutlaq has called during the meeting on the United Nations to
shoulder its responsibility,
highly assessing Cobler's role to settle the problems and find
understandings to strengthen
democracy in Iraq," according to a statement by Saleh's office
received by Aswat al-Iraq
news agency.
Cobler, the statement said, on his part had "expressed gratitude and
appreciation for
cooperation expressed by Mutlaq, demanding the political blocs to
express flexibility
in their positions, in order to get the country out of its current crisis.
