BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Fadhila bloc MP Suzan al-Sa'ad called all political entities to hold the national conference in Basra province due to its security, stability and political diversification.
In a statement issued by her media office, received by Aswat al-Iraq, she confirmed that "the political entities should seriously consider convening the conference in Basra, because it will give the province its real status as the economic capital of Iraq".
It will furthermore "end the negligence of the southern part of the country," she added.
"This will send a message to the neighboring countries that Iraq is still unified, as well as being a step forward toward enhancing national unity," al-Sa'ad stressed.
Earlier today, al-Iraqiya Bloc had called for certain measures to ensure the success of the national conference.
