BAGHDAD, Jan. 12 (AKnews) - The Council of Ministers has decided to give women 10,000 jobs this year says the Ministry of State for Women's Affairs.
Ministry spokesman Mohammed Hamza told AKnews that 25% of the total government appointments in 2012 are going to women.
"We are receiving a lot of requests, but this number cannot be accepted at this time. We need major development projects and the ministry doesn't have the abilities now."
The department says it is preparing a strategy to be implemented this year to combat violence against women and it includes four main themes that are legislation, protection, social care and prevention.
"The objective of the strategy is to abolish all kinds of legal discrimination against women and provide laws to protect and support them."
