BAGHDAD/ Aswat al-Iraq : Parliament Speaker Usama Nujaifi discussed with the Islamic Conference Organization ambassador to Iraq Hamid al-Tuny the present Iraqi political crisis and possibility of convening a new conference to continue the deliberations of Mecca conference, which was patronized by the organization and attended by Iraqi religious circles.
In a statement issued by his office, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, Nujaifi disclosed that the Iraqi parliament is planning to issue laws that will organize the relations with the Islamic Conference Organization.
From his side, Tuny stated that "a delegation shall be sent to discuss possibilities of having a new conference to continue the works of Mecca conference which was held in 2006, that resulted in Mecca Declaration".
The Declaration was signed by Shiite and Sunni clergymen who called for Islamic unity, the return of the immigrants, releasing innocent detainees".
Ambassador Tuny stressed that the organization will take heed of the 4-country initiative called by Nujaifi last September, which will comprise Iraq,Iran,Saudi Arabia and Turkeyto solve all differences.
