BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq's so-called "White Bloc's" Legislature, Alia Nusief has
charged the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) with "striving to prevent the holding of the
next Arab Summit in Baghdad, due to Iraq's balanced attitude towards some Arab states,
including Syria."
"Iraq's taking a similar distance towards all Arab states is not to the liking of some of the
GCC's member-states, thing that made them exert efforts behind curtains to prevent holding
the Arab Summit in Baghdad next March," Nusief said in a statement, carried by her
Media office on Thursday.
She said that "the balanced attitude by Iraq towards the Syrian crisis had been one of the
reasons that made the GCC refuse "the idea of Iraq's return to play its leading role in the
Pan-Arab decision-making."
