Ministry of Agriculture announced an action plan for the years 2011-2014 to raise the proportion of local agriculture products at the end of the plan period.
The director of the Information Office in the ministry, "the gate of Iraq," said the ministry is working to achieve food security by increasing domestic production and access to long-term goal, which is to achieve self-sufficiency in basic agricultural products to meet the growing needs for the production of as much as possible and the best quality.

And support the purchase dates and the amount of barley (225) billion dinars, and support the selling prices of barley at $ (112) billion dinars. Also contributed funds for lending specialist agricultural initiative of the Iraqi government to the development of agriculture in Iraq. And that these loans were able to restore activity to the agricultural sector, and contributed to the operation of labor, which left the sector.
