Baghdad (AIN) –The office of the Premier Nouri al-Maliki considered the recent statements of the Turkish Premier Recep Tayib Erdogan as “new interference in Iraq’s internal affairs which violates official and diplomatic protocols.”
“Erdogan’s statements revoke the feelings of all Iraqis who feel proud of their citizenship, unity and loyalty to their country,” a statement by Maliki’s office mentioned.
It added “Shiite and Sunni Moslems of Iraq are united brothers and they do not need those who pretend that they want to defend one part on the account of the other,” calling Erdogan to “pay more attention for courtesy followed in international communications and avoid treating other countries as communities or sects which might harm Turkey itself.”
Turkish stability and interests require more cooperation among countries rather than interfering in their internal issues, according to the statement.
The Iraqi-Turkish relations witnessed tensions recently due to the statements of the Turkish PM, Recep Tayib Erdogan, of warning from civil war in Iraq. /End/
