Education stopped the Iraqi school feeding project for lack of financial allocations

BAGHDAD (Rn) - The Iraqi Ministry of Education, on Friday, stop for school feeding project to be applied to primary schools for the year 2012 due to lack of financial allocations to the Ministry.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Adnan Al-Najjar, told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) that "the Ministry of Education stopped the school feeding project due to lack of financial allocations, as well as failure to reach agreement with dairy Iraq which was to be contracted to provide the food needed in the project to request large amounts of money ".
Najjar pointed out that "due to implementation of the project is a study in 2013 indicating that the next meal, which was due to primary students include primary cup of milk plus biscuits and fruit."
Najjar added that "the Ministry of Education will be the main focus is to protect Iraqi children and education are also provided significant support for immunization campaigns across the country as well as primary health care services."
According to UNICEF, Iraq is the presence of more than (400) thousand children suffering from malnutrition and access to food should be sufficient to enable them to grow properly by the year 2015.
The Iraqi Council of Ministers agreed in August / August 2010 on the national program of school feeding led by the Ministry of Education, and asked the World Food Programme to support implementation of school feeding and building the capacity of the Ministry to take over management of the entire program as it was supposed to be applied during the year 2012.
