BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Ministry of State for Women Affairs received today the first draft of the Strategy to uplift the Standards of Iraqi Women from the UN Women Agency.
The draft strategy comes within the MOU signed between the two sides in mid of 2011, as stated by the ministry.
The statement, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, added that the "strategy aims at enabling the Iraqi women to participate in the long-term development and activate their role in comprehensive development process".
The strategy aims at finding a legislative and economic milieus to support women, establishments to provide rights for both sexes, halting violence against women, provision of health and educational environments and participation in establishing peace.
The statement added that the ministry will review and study the strategy, before submitting it to the government before the first season of this year.
A number of Iraqi and foreign experts took part in this study.
