BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi President Jalal Talabani had returned to Baghdad on Saturday night, from Germany, where he was under medical checkups and a minor spinal surgery that were carried out successfully, a Presidential statement reported
on Sunday.
The political circles in Iraq expect that Talabani's return would help in the final preparation for the National Conference among all political forces to settle the political crisis that was escalated after the US troops withdrawal from Iraq at the end of last year, according to sources close to those political forces.
"President Talabani had received a large number of phone calls from political leaderships in Iraq and leaders of Iraq's friendly and sisterly states, congratulating him with the success of his treatment, out of which he is in a perfect health condition," the statement stressed.
The Iraqi President had reached in Germany on Sunday, Jan.
