Saudi Arabia plans to launch a security fence along 812 miles on its northern border with Iraq, in order to enhance control. The Director-General of the Saudi Frontier Force Lt. Gen. Zmim bin Joiber whipper, that the development projects it works on the northern border, came to meet the challenges of infiltration of al-Qaida and the smuggling of drugs, pointing out that he will be working soon in the project securing the southern border, as will have maritime boundary with great interest, stressing that the development plans reduced the number of security smuggling and infiltration attempts to lower levels.

He stressed that the Ministry of the Interior is moving forward in securing all borders of the Kingdom rampart security include modern techniques and control systems and sophisticated infrastructure development projects on the border, noting that it will soon begin work on implementation of the southern region, while the maritime boundary will have great interest in the development project security, and the project will have its own media freedom and sophisticated radars and sensors high precision.
The northern border region, which saw the start of a project to develop the security of the border, stretching along the international borders of Iraq and Jordan, and consists of two two main are: Rafha and Tarif, in addition to the center of the region, a city of Arar, and there are 18 administrative center in the region, and a population of about 271 thousand people.
