IRBIL, Feb 13 (KUNA) -- Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of Kurdistan Regional Government Falah Mustafa asserted here on Monday keenness of Kurdistan on the existence of an Arab and western diplomatic representation, describing Irbil as "Iraq's secured and stable gate." Mustafa told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that Irbil has at the moment more than 20 consulates and commercial offices, including two Arab consulates of Egypt and Jordan, pointing out that the near future would witness the opening of consulates for the UAE and Palestine in addition to a number of western consulates.
He added that the Kurdistan Regional Government believed it was necessary to have a Department for External Relations to regulate matters relating to foreign relations and diplomacy, coordination and cooperation with foreign missions and consulates in Irbil and foreign embassies in Baghdad.
He explained that this is done through cooperation and coordination with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (end) sbr.tg KUNA 131756 Feb 12NNNN
