WASSIT / Aswat al-Iraq: The Chairman of Wassit's Provincial Council disclosed today that a group of US companies expressed desire to invest in the province, in the fields of oil and transport.
Mahmoud Abdul Redha told Aswat al-Iraq that a meeting was held with American KPO group, where a preliminary contract was signed with them to explore oil and development of asphalt materials.
He added that the group proposed investing a military base west of Kut to transform it into a civilian airport.
Kut, the center of Wassit province, lies 180 km south of the capital, Baghdad.
