accused the Saudi Arabia of being behind the insinuations of Bahrain for not attending the Arab Summit in Baghdad next March.
Speaking to All Iraq News Agency (AIN), he stated “We wish all the Arab countries to participate in this Summit, but the statements of the Bahraini Foreign Minister for not attending it, are negative and show discouraged start.”
“I think Saudi Arabia is behind such insinuations,” he added, noting that “Such insinuations will negatively affect the time and place of holding the Summit since it was postponed because of Bahrain.”
Some Egyptian press reports reported, last Wednesday, that some Arab plans are targeting holding the Arab Summit in Baghdad where the Saudi King, Abdul Allah Bin Abdul Aziz, called for a minimized Summit to be held in Riyadh, the Capital of Saudi Arabia, which is the suitable place for holding the Summit, according to those reports.
“Saudi Arabia does not wish Iraq to have a vital role in the region and trying to keep it in a weaker position,” the reports added.
Earlier, The Deputy Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Bin Hilli, who has visited Iraq in the 30th of January, accompanied by a delegation from the Arab League, assured that Iraq is technically, logistically and security ready to hold the Arab Summit.
It’s worth mentioning that the Arab Summit was supposed to be held in Iraq in May 2011 then postponed to March 2012 due to the u stable Arab situation. /End/
