No constitutional prevention on trimming ministries

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Legal advisor Tariq Harb said today that there is no constitutional prevention to minimizing the number of ministries, though the parliament endorsed its number, pointing out that there are many ways to minimize them.
Harb told Aswat al-Iraq that "from a constitutional viewpoint, there is no veto on minimizing the number of ministries, because the minister can submit his resignation and the premier will accept it."
"There are many ways to trim down the government", he added.
He elaborated that these may include preparing a new cabinet, gaining the trust from the parliament, thus the new cabinet will replace the previous one.
Another method is for some ministers to submit their resignation, or for the premier to issue resignation orders to be approved by the cabinet.
