BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Mahmoud Othman, a lawmaker from the Kurdistan Alliance, criticized statements made by Iyad Allawi, leader of al-Iraqiya Bloc, in which he suggested tackling Iraq's present crisis in the upcoming Arab summit.
Othman considered Allawi's statements as applying further pressures in an attempt to speed up holding the National Conference, which he believes will increase the political congestion in the country.
"The statements are negative at this time, and could damage the political situation in the country," he told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
Othman's believes the chances of the National Conference being a success to be "very weak," as there have been no positive activities or efforts to render it a success, pointing to the continues postponement of the preparatory committee's meetings.
