Exxon beyond the silence and reveal their plans for oil in the Kurdistan Region

Erbil, February 27 (Rn) - The Exxon Mobil, the U.S. giant unveiled its plans for drilling for oil in the Kurdistan region of Iraq in the annual report after months of silence.
The Government of the Territory had said three months ago it had signed a production sharing contract with Exxon on 18 October last year to explore for oil and gas in the six regions.
This is the time that the Exxon talking about this deal which has angered Baghdad, the first major oil company to invest in the Kurdistan region.
According to the annual report of Exxon, which was submitted on 24 February that "the exploration and production activities in the Kurdistan region of Iraq is governed by production sharing contracts with the Kurdistan Regional Government in 2011," according to "Reuters".
According to the report, "the exploration period of five years with the possibility of extended two years. Production period of 20 years with the right to be extended five years."
And angered the activities of major American company in Kurdistan, the federal government in Baghdad which was announced long ago that all oil agreements signed with the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq is illegal.
Baghdad and threatened at first to cancel the service contract signed with Exxon for the first phase of the giant West Qurna field in southern Iraq.
But the federal government informed the Exxon at the end of January that it can continue to work at West Qurna, provided that freeze their plans with Kurdistan.
Industry sources say that the company does not have this intention and it will continue its work in Arbil, in silence.
And Iraqi oil officials say it is not possible to Baghdad in any case to take a decision against Exxon on a franchise agreement before the Kurdistan formulate formal legal response to Baghdad.
The head of the Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, the region would go ahead with its agreement with Exxon over the objections of the federal government in Baghdad.
Barzani said in an interview with "Reuters" at the end of December last December that Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has been informed of the agreement before signing it and raised no objection. He described the opposition to the Baghdad agreement as "unconstitutional."
