KRG delegation to UK seeks to boost trade relations
Erbil, A delegation of officials from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) flew out to the UK today seeking to develop trade relations with British firms.
The KRG Minister of Municipalities and Tourism, Samir Abdullah, heads the group of ministry officials that are hoping to spark the interest of British investors in the Kurdistan region.
“Our main goal in visiting England, Ireland and Scotland is to see a considerable increase in the presence of their companies and businessmen in the region,” the minister said.
The delegation is also scheduled to participate in a business forum – expected to be attended by dozens of UK firms – that has been organized by the KRG’ s representative office in London, in association with the British Investment Board.
"we will present the latest developments in Kurdistan to the UK businessmen...our efforts will focus on attracting a large number of UK investors to the region.” Mr. Abdullah continued.
In addition, the minister explained that the group will be looking at other ways to heighten cooperation between the UK and Iraqi-Kurdistan.
“We will try to benefit from the UK’s expertise in tourism so that we can rehabilitate our tourism sector,” he said.
