Iraq gives «Exxon Mobil» days to settle in Kurdistan oil deals

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The Iraqi government spokesman said that his country has given Exxon Mobil a few days to explain its position on oil deals with Kurdistan region of Iraq, which the central government considers illegal.
The Government of the Kurdistan region of Iraq in November, the signing of contracts for six exploration blocks with Exxon, the first major oil company to deal with the Kurdistan directly.
She said the central government in Iraq that the agreement may harm the holding «Exxon Mobil» on the development of the first phase of the giant West Qurna field in southern Iraq. Officials say they are waiting for a response from the U.S. company.
Said Faisal Abdullah, spokesman Hussein al-Shahristani, Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister for Energy "came« Exxon Mobil »to Baghdad last month, and requested more time to provide a response on the Kurdish deals, and decided to give the government a deadline."
"The government is awaiting the answers Exxon before taking a final position towards the company and its contracts with Kurdistan, the deadline during the next few days."
The government of Kurdistan to participate in the production contract with Exxon was signed in October 18, 2011.
The Iraqi government wants to explain Exxon whether to go ahead with the execution of contracts or freeze or cancel.
