Baghdad (NINA) - MP from Ahrar Bloc, Rafi Abdul Jabbar, said passing the security ministers in a direct vote in Parliament complicate the problem because Iraqiya Slate might withdraw from the political process.
He said, in a statement to NINA today "the issue of security ministers is still disputed between the political blocs, I do not think a conclusion shall be reached unless the leaders of political blocs resorted to dialogue."
Abdul Jabbar said "IS thinks that under the Erbil agreement that it is entitled to the issue of selecting the Minister of Defense, on the other side Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki sees that he is entitled to that task as he is Commander in Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces who will work with MOD in the security field and must be approved by him in terms of conditions that he thinks appropriate."
Abdul Jabbar believes that both sides are right in their views toward the issue, but passing the security minister through the parliament would be objectionable and may complicate the problem more than solving it.
He continued "assuming that Maliki offered the security ministers names to the Parliament directly, there will be majority on them, and this file will be finalized, but, this process may put us in another problem if IS boycotted the parliament and the withdrawn from the political process, hence, the table of dialogue is the only solution to the security ministers file.”
