Baghdad (AIN) –MP Ashoor Hamid Salih of Tajdeed Bloc assured that the electricity power problems was not caused by the low number of a power plant, it is related to the fuel that operate these plants.
Salih stated to (AIN) on Friday that “Electricity power allocation in the Federal Government is equal to the allocations of Kurdistan Regions but the electricity problems was not solved yet.” Assuring that “The main reason behind electricity power problems was not providing the adequate amount of fuel to the power plants.”
“We suggested to the Ministry of Electricity MoE to establish an investment sector in the ministry but the minister disagreed with us and preferred to invest in maintaining and developing power lines,” Salih added.
Salih also mentioned that “Recently we noticed positive activities by the minister of electricity, Abdul Kareem Aftan, to improve the electricity.”
Iraq suffered from a major electricity power crisis, electricity disconnected in Baghdad for more than 16 hours per day as a result of the government’s incapability to solve this problem for the past eight years, on the other hand Kurdistan Region announced recently increasing the electricity power provided from 18 to 20 hours per day. /End/
