Completion of the demarcation of 90 percent of the border with Iran

Sources close to the High Commission to demarcate the border of Iraq - Iran, on the arrival of demarcation between the two countries to about 90 percent.
The sources told the "morning," said Iraqi Committee composed of relevant ministries, including foreign, water resources, oil and finance, along with a number of institutions and security agencies, in connection with the direct work of demarcation of the border in the Shatt al-Arab, which are having problems negotiating on mechanisms demarcation and location of installation props. They expected to be finding solutions to the dilemma that accompany this process with the Iranian side, stressing the desire of both sides to resolve all outstanding issues between the two countries, particularly the issue of border demarcation. The rule of the Shatt al-Arab, is one of the points of contention between Iraq and Iran, as it was in accordance with the Algiers Convention signed between the two countries in 1975, giving up half of the Shatt al-Arab to Iran. In September 1980 the President of the previous dictatorial regime from the cancellation of the Algiers Convention by one, after he had signed when he was vice president at the time, and considered the Shatt al-Arab part of the territorial waters Iraq.
