Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has reiterated the Islamic Republic’s full support for the establishment of unity and stability in neighboring Iraq.
Insecurity and instability in any regional country, including Iraq and Syria, would adversely impact the entire region, Salehi said in a meeting with Iraqi Minister of Communications Mohamad Tofiq Alavi on Sunday.
Salehi expressed optimism that Iraq will rise to the high status that it deserves in regional and international arenas through national unity and solidarity.
He also expressed support for a comprehensive expansion of ties between Iran and Iraq. He further called for constructive consultations and collaborations between regional states to resolve challenges facing the region.
The Iraqi minister, for his part, hailed the ties between the two countries. He also said that Iraq was willing to benefit from Iran’s experience in various fields, including information, technology and communications.
Mohamad Tofiq Alavi stressed the importance of cooperation among regional countries, particularly between Iran and Iraq, towards the establishment of security in the entire region.
