Biden affirms to Maliki the US readiness to support getting Iraq from Article VII mandate
Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki discussed in a phone call with US Vice President, Joe Biden, Iraq’s efforts to get out of Article VII mandate.
A statement issued on Monday, Mar. 12, by the Prime Minister’s Office said, “Maliki received a phone call from Biden, discussing means to step up efforts toward finding peaceful ways to solve problems and crisis that a many of the region’s countries are suffering from.”
The statement quoted Maliki stressing rejection of violence and using force in Syria, a mean to solve the crisis, and rejecting attempts to send arms into Syria by any side, and stepping up surveillance measures on the Iraq-Syria borders to stop violence toward finding a peaceful solution to the crisis.
For his part, Biden affirmed the US readiness to support Iraq’s efforts to get out of Chapter VII mandate and solving its problems including between Iraq and Kuwait, as well as his country’s rejection of arming any side in Syria. / End.
