Baghdad (AIN) –The head of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, MP Khalid Shwani, confirmed that "The Government requested the parliament to linger the endorsement of the General Immunity Law because the Government is preparing another draft for the Law."

Speaking to All Iraqi News Agency (AIN), he said "The Government asked to refer the parliament's draft to the Government to be studied beside the Government's draft."

"The Legal Committee will discuss the Government's request and decide according to the constitution," he added.

It is worth mentioning that the General Immunity Law arouses debates among the political blocs especially between the State of Law Coalition and Ahrar bloc.

The Premier, Nouri al-Maliki described the Law as "A relapse ion the history of the political figures and parties," assuring that "This Law shows the readiness of the Legislative Authority to pardon corrupted sides." /End/
