Baghdad (AIN) –MP, Khalid al-Alwani, of the Iraqiya Slate described including item 40, which is about the retired persons of the local councils, as a “Wrong procedure.”
In a press statement received by AIN, he stated “The salaries of the retired local council employees were granted to them according to a law endorsed in the last parliament and it cannot be cancelled without another law.”
“Previously, we have requested the parliament to modify item 40 of the budget by collecting signatures to cancel it,” the statement added.
“This item was supposed to read in the session held in Thursday, but the parliament requested to precisely discussing it and it was postponed, assuring that the next few days will witness the first reading of this item which is for a big number of citizens,” the statement pointed out.
According to the statement, Alwani pointed out that “These people have faced terrorism in 2006-2007 which was effective and that is led the parliament to grant them the retired salaries.”
“He ruled out that the Parliamentary Financial Committee to be behind the cancellation of this item, assuring that it works on modifying this item according to a new law,” the statement concluded./End/
