Armored vehicles budget cancellation and draft laws to be voted on

BAGHDAD, March 15 (AKnews) - Amendments to the 2012 federal budget, including the cancellation of $51.6m (60bn IQD) for purchasing armored cars for members of the Iraqi parliament, will be discussed on Thursday.
The planned purchase of armored cars was criticized by popular, political and religious leaders who called for using the money for social service projects instead.
Ashwaq al-Jaff, a MP from the Kurdish Blocs Coalition, told AKnews that the Council of Representatives will also discuss and vote on the following 12 draft laws:
Ratification of the Republic of Iraq on the International Convention of the renewable energy agency
Cancellation of the resolution of the disbanded Revolutionary Command Council No. 196 for the year 1984
Ratification of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Republic of Iraq and the EU about a strategic partnership in the field of energy
Accession of the Republic of Iraq to the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture
Accession of the Republic of Iraq to the International Trade Convention about Endangered Species of Animals and Wild Plants.
Bill of accession of the Republic of Iraq to the Convention of establishing Plant Protection Organization in the Near East
Cooperation convention in the field of animal health between the Government of the Republic of Iraq and the Government of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
Cooperation Agreement in the field of agriculture and plant protection between the Governments of the Republic of Iraq and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
Amending the Penal Code No. (111) of 1969 concerning the abolition of the Revolutionary Command Council resolution
A draft law from the Ministry of Construction and Housing, and a weapons bill will also be discussed.
The Council of Representatives concluded its Monday session after finishing the first and second readings of a number of draft laws.
