Experts believe that electric power generation projects in Iraq witnessed a slowdown despite the desire of the Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to increase the Government's performance, particularly in the area of electric power supply.
Iraq is suffering electricity shortages led to many service facilities affected by the economic and service degradation to the majority of the population.
According to shell, negotiations between the Ministry of oil and bar posed a shell and Mitsubishi ended successfully and the ability to access the finalization of the contracts. The shell and Mitsubishi are calling their Ministry of initialled after submitting contracts for final approval by the Council of Ministers.
And Mr. Malcolm Fraser believes he is an expert specializing in energy that it is better to sign South gas deal between the Iraqi Government and the shell and Mitsubishi soon to realized investment and the Iraqi people more electricity.

Experts believe that the long awaited Iraqi gas deal with shell reach a final decision, a deal that began its journey in the year 2008 preliminary agreement was signed between the Ministry of petroleum and shell transaction sets. a vision for an Iraqi company, a joint venture between South gas company owned by the State (which owns majority shares) and the shell to create an integrated media company, its mission is to collect, process and allow Iraqi gas currently product that is burned (billion cubic feet per day output and 70 percent burn) with Liquefied natural gas (used in cooking, industry), walmtkethvat (natural gasoline vehicles, kedizl).
According to official statistics, the amount of gas fired power sufficient to produce 4,500 MW, bearing in mind that the current power generation in Iraq is 6,500 megawatts), and can produce 4,000 tons per day of liquefied natural gas (equivalent to 320,000 cooking gas cylinders per day), and 770 tons of almtkethvat (enough to supply 75,000 vehicles). during the past three years of negotiations have made shell and South gas company made considerable progress on the ground and in the conventions. Shell has invested 100 million dollars, through the purchase of GE unit and providing professional engineering experts to review the State of the facilities and provide advice on the rehabilitation plans.
Shell has worked together on the South and a number of opportunities named ‘ ’ quick gains, which had already reduced gas flaring in southern Iraq by about 20 percent. And now there is an urgent need for investment in facilities for rehabilitation, and of course can't be done only after the signing of the final agreements.
The Iraqi oil Ministry and shell have agreed to provide more gas to the domestic market and convert it to fuel for power generation to meet the deficit which causes blackout, although there is an urgent need in Iraq for electricity, but it was not immediately clear whether the shell and Mitsubishi will continue to work together to run the project and the provision of gas turbine power generation mobile units and the strengthening of the national electricity grid, especially in the southern city of Basra.
The shell had signed an agreement with the Iraqi oil Ministry in September 2008, commercial principles for the establishment of a joint venture between shell and South gas company. The South gas company must be the largest contributor by 51 percent in a joint venture with Shell to hold 44 percent and Mitsubishi 5 percent.
Once established, this joint venture will serve to collect and process raw gas, the sale of natural gas (and its associated products such as capacitors and liquefied petroleum gas) for domestic and export markets.
It is recalled that Iraq is among the largest in the world possess reserves of oil and gas on the way to play a key role in meeting the global demand expected for the year 2030. this way, it is difficult to see the future without Iraq and certainly in the global energy supply and demand balance.
