Baghdad {: News} celebrated Euphrates Permanent Mission of Iraq to the United Nations Permanent anniversary 56 of the meetings of the Commission on the Status of Women in the presence of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
The Foreign Ministry statement today that "Iraq's Permanent Representation to the United Nations has set up a luncheon on the occasion of 56th Session of the meetings of the Commission on the Status of Women in the presence of Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations."
The statement quoted the Permanent Representative of Iraq Ambassador Hamid al-Bayati said during a speech that "Iraqi women have been during the former regime to the injustice and oppression and confiscation of the will and freedom," adding "the government's plan for the coming years in the field of women's empowerment and support to take their place in society and that the constitution provided for the importance of the role of women and protection. "
