Karbala (NINA) - MP from the Fadheela Party, Mohamed Al Hindawi, expected that the Arab participation in the Baghdad Summit would be to foreign ministers and some figures without the presence of an Arab president or king if the security situation remained that way.
He said to NINA correspondent today "the bombings yesterday in Baghdad and other provinces were intended to disturb the positive atmosphere of the Arab Summit and attempted to foil it or at least to prevent the level of participation from presidents and kings."
Hindawi, MP from Karbala, called on security leaders to put a solid security plan to keep the security of Baghdad and Iraq, generally, in order to send a positive message reassuring the Arabs and the participants in the Summit that Baghdad is safe, Iraq is well and things are under control.
He held Qaeda, remnants of the Baath Party, and the enemies of the political process in Iraq responsibility for the bombings that took place yesterday "to give a negative image of the security situation to the Arab leaders before the Summit, next week."
Regarding Karbala bombings Hindawi said "these breaches should not have happened."
At least 65 people were killed and 180 were injured yesterday in a series of car bombings, improvised explosive devices, and armed attacks in Baghdad and several provinces, 9 days only before the Arab Summit in Baghdad.
The bombings were carried out by 17 car bombs, 7 IEDs, 3 mortar shells, in addition to 4 armed attacks. /End/
